It is up to the users at The Hague University of Applied Sciences
Eromesmarko is long-term furnishing partner of The Hague University of Applied Sciences
The Hague University of Applied Sciences (or simply: ‘THUAS’) offers more than 100 study programmes across five locations in the Dutch cities of The Hague, Delft and Zoetermeer. Nearly 26,000 students of 120 different nationalities study at THUAS. The focus of the university is on continuous development, in a pleasant and secure school environment with equal opportunities for all. As a long-term furnishing partner of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Eromesmarko has been furnishing its locations since 2017.
Masterplan: a project group landscape
Together with THUAS, Abels & Partners Architects developed a ‘Masterplan’ for the renovation and redesign of the THUAS main campus in The Hague. A cornerstone of this plan is the layout of a so-called project group landscape, where users can choose from a uniform set of colours, (high/low) furniture, various set-up options and interior elements for the various rooms and functions. By choosing these furnishing elements, students can use the areas more frequently.
The role of Eromesmarko
As educational experts, Eromesmarko has both an executive and advisory role. We handle the interior design of the various locations during the implementation of the Master Plan. We design the interior entirely from the perspective of the users: students, teachers and visitors – after all, they are the ones who have to experience the added value of our efforts. For the final result, their input was of great importance.
New circular furniture
Circular furnishing is at the heart of Eromesmarko. For each project, we choose whether to reuse existing furniture or to use new circular furniture. In the case of THUAS, the Eromesmarko Desq desk is a good example. Our production is sustainable with materials from local suppliers, we work with recycled materials as much as possible and we use certified wood.
The result
Designing and furnishing the best possible learning and working environment in higher education is an ongoing process. The rooms, departments and floors are handled and delivered in stages. The uniform and consistent use of colours and the style of furniture creates a strong and recognisable overall image, with individual accents per room. The users are positive about the changes. One of the things they like about the larger open spaces is that they can choose different configurations and pieces of furniture, depending on the activity.
“The relationship with Eromesmarko is pleasant. The company is actively involved and the product range of Eromesmarko includes the most common furnishing elements”
